ELKINS -- Several local residents have become winners in the "Do it for Babydog: Save a life, Change your life" Vaccination Sweepstakes.

Five area individuals were announced as prize winners this week in the fourth round of the sweepstakes, which is a COVID-19 vaccination incentive program for West Virginians.

Mary Hull of Buckhannon was among the Lifetime Fishing License Winners this week, while Joyce Rohr, also of Buckhannon, was one of the Custom Hunting Shotgun Winners in the fourth round.

Two Elkins residents, David Matthew and Robert Phillips, and Robert Watson of Belington were among the State Park Weekend Getaway Winners announced this week.

Other local residents who have won prizes in the sweepstakes included, in the second round, Aimee Cain of Elkins, one of the Custom Hunting Rifle Winners.

In the first round of the sweepstakes, Charles Moats of Philippi was one of the Custom Hunting Rifle Winners, while Thomas Binns of Elkins was among the State Park Weekend Getaway Winners.

On Wednesday, Gov. Jim Justice visited Timothy Jackson's office at West Virginia University's Robotic Technology Center in Fairmont on Wednesday to present the latest million-dollar winner in West Virginia's vaccination sweepstakes. Justice was accompanied by his pet English Bulldog -- Babydog -- who is the mascot of the "Do it for Babydog" vaccination sweepstakes. The Governor presented Jackson, of Bridgeport, with a ceremonial check for $1 million. He is the fourth person to win the million-dollar prize, one of 50 prizes announced this week.

Justice also surprised Thomas Sowers, an assistant football coach at Riverside High School, and Grace Fowler, who lives in the community of Nettie in Nicholas County, presenting each of them with a brand-new custom-outfitted truck.

Liam Cox, of Weston, and Christopher Ellis, of Bruno, each won a four-year scholarship to any public institution in the state.
