Most Randolph County Fair events canceled

1 min read

Officials announced Friday evening that most Randolph County Fair events have been canceled due to COVID-19 concerns.

“After several meetings with the Randolph County Public Health Department, Davis Health Systems Staff and our Fair Board of Directors it saddens us to announce that we will be canceling the carnival and all events scheduled for the Randolph County Fair Aug 24-29 excluding the 4-H Livestock Show & Sale, Fireworks and this weekends pageant events. The events being held will be held in a modified form and details will be released soon,” a Randolph County Fair social media post stated Friday evening.

“We realize that some might not understand or realize that we’re already in a vulnerable position with expenses already paid and event contracts already signed. We operate with a small number of staff to handle the great undertaking of producing a fair (many are our personal family and close friends). Local hospitalizations and active COVID cases are rising daily, and according to local public health officials, they are continuing to more than double daily with hospitals at an all time high.”
