ELKINS -- A Barbour County man has admitted to possessing a machine gun in federal court.
Kyle Richard Lantz II, 38, of Philippi, pleaded guilty to one count of unlawful possession of a machinegun, United States Attorney William Ihlenfeld announced.
Lantz admitted to having a machinegun in August 2019 in Barbour County.
Lantz faces at least 10 years and up to life incarceration and a fine of up to $10 million. Under the federal sentencing guidelines, the actual sentence imposed will be based upon the seriousness of the offenses and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Brandon S. Flower is prosecuting the case on behalf of the government. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives investigated.
U.S. Magistrate Judge Michael John Aloi presided.
