ELKINS -- An Elkins man is behind bars after an alleged incident on Thursday at a residence on First Street.
Wilson Dale Armstrong, 40, is charged with domestic battery – third offense, a felony. He is currently lodged in the Tygarts Valley Regional Jail on a $30,000 surety-cash bond set by Randolph County Magistrate Ben Shepler.
Armstrong was accused of striking, pushing and pouring a drink on a woman at the First Street residence.
According to the criminal complaint, Sergeant C.G. Boatwright of the Elkins Police Department arrived at the scene and found the alleged victim distraught and injured. She told the officer that Armstrong had attacked her and that he was in the back room of the house.
Once locating the defendant, officers put him in hand restraints and led him out of the residence. Police said Armstrong had visible injuries as well; he stated that they were from the alleged victim, who told police she hit him in an attempt to get away from him while he was attacking her.
The complaint states Armstrong has been charged with domestic battery multiple times, including two in the year 2020.
According to the complaint, Armstrong smelled of alcoholic beverages and had bleeding spots inside his right arm. He allegedly admitted to police he had been smoking methamphetamine earlier in the day.
