85-year-old man killed in ATV wreck

HUTTONSVILLE -- A Randolph County man was killed during an ATV accident this week, officials said.

Jimmy Ball Jr., 85, was riding his four-wheeler on family property when he struck an embankment at low speed Tuesday, according to a release from the Randolph County Sheriff's Office Thursday evening.

"After striking the embankment Mr. Ball became trapped under the ATV and did not survive," the release states.

Ball was operating a 1997 Suzuki King Quad in the Bell Crouch Road area of Huttonsville.

"Mr. Ball was located by a family member who contacted 911," according to the release.

The Huttonsville-Mill Creek VFD, Randolph EMS and Randolph County Medical Examiner assisted at the scene. The incident is still under investigation.
