EFD raising funds with new t-shirts

The Elkins Fire Department is selling this new t-shirt, featuring hand-drawn art, as a fundraiser.
ELKINS --The Elkins Fire Department is currently raising funds by selling custom-made t-shirts.
"We've had the fire truck t-shirts as a fundraiser in the past and people really seemed to like them," Elkins Fire Department fundraising chairman Tyler Harris told The Inter-Mountain. "Every year we always have some kind of t-shirt sale for a fundraiser, but this is the first time in a while that we've done it with the trucks on the shirts. Probably eight or nine years ago we had them with the older trucks, but these shirts are something new with a little bit of a different design."
The new shirts have hand-drawn art on the back that features a pair of fire trucks with the fire station in the background. The border around the mural reads "Elkins Fire Department" "Fourth Street Blues." The left side of the front of the shirt will sport the EFD patch.
Harris said the money collected from the shirts, which are $25 each and range from small to double extra large, will go toward buying new equipment.
"We will use that money to purchase anything from gear to saws," he said. "Really anything equipment-wise that you can think of that we use and need will be bought out of that account."

The Elkins Fire Department is also planning to offer another elimination dinner in October. It held its first elimination dinner of the year last month at the Elkins VFW and sold 250 tickets.
Harris said the next elimination dinner will be much like the first, with the winner of the drawing taking home a grand prize of $1,000. It will again feature a dinner with the drawing and a dance held afterward. Harris said the only significant difference is that the fall event will be held at the Phil Gainer Community Center.
"Our elimination drawings always have a dinner with a dance afterwards," Harris said. "The drawing starts and it concludes at 9 p.m. and then we have a dance with DJ until 11 p.m. We also give away $50 on every 50th number that is drawn all the way until the grand prize at the end."
