ELKINS --Public schools in many local counties will open for the 2022-23 school season within weeks, while others will open later this month.
The first day of school for students in Randolph County will be Wednesday, Aug. 17. The final day of the 2022-23 school year in Randolph County will be Thursday, May 25.
Upshur County schools will open Tuesday, Aug. 16 for the 2022-23 school year. The final day of school in Upshur will be Friday, May 26.
Barbour County schools will open Tuesday, Aug. 16. The last day of school for the 2022-23 school year in Barbour County will be Friday, May 26.
Tucker County schools will open Wednesday, Aug. 24. The final day of school for Tucker County in the 2022-23 school year will be Wednesday, May 31.
The first day of school in Pocahontas County will be Monday, Aug. 15. The last day of school in Pocahontas County for the 2022-23 school year will be Friday, May 26.
Webster County schools will open Thursday, Aug. 18. The final day of the 2022-23 school year in Webster County will be Friday, May 26.
In Pendleton County, school will open Friday, Aug. 19 for the 2022-23 school year. The last day of school in Pendleton will be Friday, May 26.
Grant County schools will open Friday, Aug. 19. The final day of the 2022-23 school year in Grant County will be Friday, May 26.
In Hardy County, school will open Friday, Aug. 19 for the 2022-23 school year. The last day of school in Hardy will be Friday, May 26.
In Lewis County, schools will open Monday, Aug. 22. The final day of the 2022-23 school year in Lewis County will be Wednesday, May 31.
The counties' last days of school are tentative. If school must be canceled repeatedly due to snow and winter weather, for instance, the last day of school dates may change.
