Home a total loss after morning fire

ELKINS -- A home was deemed a total loss following a Randolph County house fire Monday morning.
At approximately 11 a.m., 911 dispatchers received a call of a house fire on the Old Weaver Road, just off the Gum Road in the Crystal Springs area, officials said.
Flames were shooting out of one side of the house's windows when the Elkins Fire Department was the first to arrive on the scene.
"We got called to a residential house on fire and when we arrived it was a working fire," Elkins Fire Department Chief Steve Himes told The Inter-Mountain Monday. "We ended up being there for about two hours and it was determined to be accidental."
The EFD received assistance battling the blaze from the Beverly and Junior fire departments.
"We had assistance from those departments because there is no water supply where the fire was," Himes said. "The Coalton Fire Department was also alerted but ended up just covering our station."
Himes said no one was injured during the fire. He noted the home was a total loss, with estimated damages to be around $65,000. The Red Cross was notified so that it could help the occupant of the home, Himes said.
