ELKINS -- Twin brothers were arrested in Elkins this week on active warrants out of Florida, officials said.
Keith Keene, 54, is being held in the Tygart Valley Regional Jail on a $50,000 cash only bond.
On Sunday, Cpl. S.D. Kyle, of the Randolph County Sheriff's Office, received an anonymous tip that that Keene was staying at a residence near Central Street and might have active warrants from Florida, a Sheriff's Office release states. The Putnam County, Florida sheriff's office confirmed that Keene had "at least five active warrants with nationwide extradition."
Kyle, Sgt. B.W. Cogar, Deputy J.L. Wolfe and West Virginia State Police and Elkins Police Department officers responded to the Central Street location, where Keene answered the door and was placed under arrest, according to the release.
Keene said his twin brother was also inside the residence, and "officers located Kristopher Keene in a small closet hiding behind storage totes," the release states. "It was confirmed that Kristopher also had at least five active warrants out of Putnam County, Florida."
The charges against the brothers from Florida included robbery, battery, domestic battery, criminal mischief and exploitation of an elderly/disabled person (over $20,000), the release reads.
The brothers were transported to the Tygart Valley Regional Jail to await extradition back to Putnam County, Florida, officials said.
