VALLEY BEND -- A man was arrested Wednesday after a dispute involving a dog, officials said.
Travis Kieth Arbogast was arrested by Randolph County Sheriff's Office officers without incident Wednesday and was transported to the Tygart Valley Regional Jail to await arraignment, police said.
According to an RCSO press release, Sgt. B.W. Cogar responded to a 911 call Sept. 10 at the Valley View Mobile Home Park in Valley Bend. The caller said Arbogast had struck him as he was trying to retrieve his dog.
On scene, Cogar spoke to the alleged victim, who said his dog had been placed on a leash by Arbogast, and when he bent down to retrieve the dog, Arbogast "kicked him in the chest and knocked him down" and then "punched him in the side of the head," the release states.
Arbogast then allegedly told Cogar that he had retrieved the alleged victim's dog and walked it down to him. Arbogast said he took the dog off the leash and then stepped back when the alleged victim "'wretch' in his pocket," the release states. Arbogast said he then "shoved" the alleged victim with his foot and then kicked him, and then hit him "three or four times." Arbogast said he then told the alleged victim to "keep his dog out of his yard."
The alleged victim asked for Randolph County EMS to come to the scene to assess his injuries. EMS then transported him to Davis Medical Center for treatment, according to the release.
