Elkins ending leaf collection effort

By Brad Johnson 1 min read

The final day of the City of Elkins annual leaf pick-up effort will be Wednesday, officials said.

Please have all leaves to the curb by today to ensure your leaves will be picked up, officials urge.

To make use of this city service, residents are asked to either rake their leaves into piles in the grassy area between the curb and the sidewalk, or bag up leaves for pick-up.

"Please do not place leaves in the street, as this causes problems with storm drains as well as parking and traffic concerns," a City of Elkins press release states. "City employees will not go into yards to collect leaves."

Residents can also drop off leaves and yard waste at the City of Elkins Wastewater Collection Plant located at 31 Jones Drive, adjacent to Robert E. Lee Avenue/Flood Control Road.

Yard waste, including leaves, can be dropped off at that location between 6:30 a.m. and 2 p.m., Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday; 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesdays, and 9a.m. to noon on Saturdays.

Starting at /week.
