ELKINS — The Elkins-Randolph County Chamber of Commerce, currently celebrating its 80th year, offered its annual Dinner & Awards event Thursday evening.

The theme of the event was “Celebrate Leadership.” It took place at the Senate Commons in the Myles Center for the Arts on the campus of Davis & Elkins College.

Keynote speaker Pam Farris, who has served as the executive director of Leadership West Virginia for the past 17 years, spoke about the program and its benefits to both employers and employees.

The 2022 Non-Profit of the Year Award was presented to the Kump Education Center in Elkins.

Since 2020, the center has been providing tutoring for area school children negatively impacted by covid disruptions and hosting professional training for educators.

The award was presented by Adam Williams from the Durbin & Greenbrier Valley Railroad.

The first-ever Chamber Annual Art Award was presented to The Arts Center.

The Center presents free monthly Brown Bag Concerts, juried exhibitions, performances, classes, and an annual gala, this year set for May 5.

The award was presented by Nick Marstiller of Elkins Builders Supply.

The Young Leader of the Year Award went to Adriana Channel.

Channel is the Marketing Director for Davis Trust Company, and is a member of the Chamber Board of Directors, as well as the first class of Leadership Randolph.

The award was presented by Jim Jackson of Elkins Auto.

The New Business of the Year Award was presented to Southern Kitchen WV.

The restaurant is co-owned by Sharell Harmon and Sinquiss “Kiki” Anderson, best friends of 20 years. The pair met in fifth grade at 10 years old.

The award was presented by Randolph County Development Authority Deputy Director Kris Wilmoth.

The Business Person of the Year Award went to Bryan Totten.

Totten serves as the AARL — AREA Assistant Emergency Coordinator for Randolph County. He is a master electrician and plumber, and co-owner and founder of Master Service Corporation, an industrial and commercial electrical contracting company.

The award was presented by Davis Trust Company.

The Business of the Year Award was presented to The Delmonte Market.

Owner Tammy Dolly opened the market a decade ago, and it now features a coffee and lunch spot, a floral shop and a wide collection of gifts for every occasion.

The award was presented by Brad Johnson, executive editor of The Inter-Mountain.

The Award for Citizen of the Year was presented to Carol Meader.

Meader works to raise money and purchase gifts for 50 to 60 needy children in Randolph County. Often the holiday presents are provided for kids spending the holiday in a crisis shelter. She currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors for Centers Against Violence, serving Elkins.

The award was presented by Nathaniel Bonnell, President of Citizens Bank of West Virginia.

The 2022 Tom Williams Award of Distinction went to William Joseph “Bill” Brown.

He is the former President and co-owner of Pepsi Cola Bottling Company and Hess Oil Company; and former co-owner of Brown Family Enterprise and General Distributing. Brown has a long history of community involvement and service, including serving as Treasurer of Alumnae of Sigma Phi Epsilon at Davis & Elkins College; as State President and Board of Directors of the WV Oil Marketers & Gasoline Association; on the Snowshoe Foundation Board of Directors; and in 2010 he was named the Allohak Council of Boy Scouts of America Distinguished Citizen.

The Chamber’s Member of the Year Award was presented to Kathy Leombruno.

She is the Senior Vice President and Marketing Officer at Citizens Bank of WV. She has volunteered for many years with the Mountain State Forest Festival and United Way, and who has held multiple Chamber offices.

The award was presented by Chamber Board President Mike Bell.
