ELKINS -- The Elkins-Randolph County Chamber of Commerce will host its annual dinner and awards ceremony on the campus of Davis & Elkins College Thursday, April 27.
The event, which is being billed as "Celebrate Leadership" and is sponsored by Nikki Rogers State Farm, will take place in the Senate Commons Area of the Myles Center for the Arts at D&E. A reception, sponsored by FirstEnergy, begins at 5:30 p.m.
The awards dinner is being sponsored by Great Harvest Bakery & Cafe and Anytime Fitness. It is scheduled to get underway at 6:30 p.m. and will feature keynote speaker Pam Farris of Leadership West Virginia.
"Pam will be talking to us about leadership, which goes with this year's banquet theme," Wood said. "She will be addressing numerous items and sharing any ideas she may have."
Farris is the executive director of Leadership West Virginia, which is an innovative program that grows, engages and mobilizes leaders to ignite a lifelong passion to move West Virginia forward.
"We will be handing out our eight annual awards that we have always done and we've added another this year to the list," Elkins-Randolph County Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Lisa Wood said. "The new award this year is for Community Art. Elkins is an arts town so it seemed appropriate to have an award for it."
The other awards include the Tom Williams Award of Distinction, Non-Profit of the Year, Young Leader of the Year, Educator of the Year, Businessman of the Year, Business Woman of the Year, Business of the Year and the Citizens of the Year.
"We will celebrate leadership across our county and honor our first Leadership Randolph class during the event," Wood said. "We are planning to have 200-plus in attendance and anything over that would be extra nice."
The Leadership Randolph Class helps develop and prepare local leaders to help move Randolph County forward. The class has once-a-month sessions and consists of individuals from various organizations in the area.
