ELKINS -- Davis & Elkins College will host the return of the Deja vu Music Festival Friday at the Citizens Bank of West Virginia Amphitheatre.
The 43rd annual festival will feature a performance by country music star Chase Matthew.
The Deja vu Music Festival began in 1980 as a "last blast" for students before the end of the academic year, and has evolved into one of the premier music festivals in West Virginia, officials said.
Over the years, the festival has hosted names such as Dierks Bentley, Brothers Osborne, Flogging Molly, Vanilla Ice and O.A.R., to name a few.
Matthew is on the fast track to becoming one of Nashville's hottest newcomers. A Music City native, Matthew began his career by independently paving a path for himself in the genre, due to his infectious personality, rowdy live performances and authentic, relatable music.
He has amassed more than 450 million global career streams (with more than 150 million global streams on his first RIAA GOLD-certified smash, "County Line"), garnering more than a million followers across social media and being named HITS Magazine "One to Watch."
In March of this year, Matthew was invited to perform on the most sacred stage in country music- The Grand Ole Opry.
In an interview with Celeb Secrets Country, Matthew recalled that the "Opry" was a crazy experience, and "many people don't get that opportunity, and I got to share the moment with my family. I feel so humbled, and I always remember I do this for them, too. They have pushed me to chase my dreams, and getting to share that moment with them was definitely special. I can't wait to do it again."
With Matthew's second album scheduled to be released this month, attendees to the 43rd annual Deja vu Music Festival are in for an exciting performance by one of country music's rising performers.
This event is open to everyone. Tickets can be purchased online through ITickets.
