ELKINS -- The search for a new executive director of Elkins Main Street has ended, as Lissa Eason has been hired to fill the position.
Eason started her new job Monday and said she was anxious to get started.
"I've already started getting some things into place and it's been a really good day," she told The Inter-Mountain Monday. "It's exciting being a part of everything that is going on in Elkins. I'm excited to be a part of building and helping bring the community together here."
Main Street is a downtown revitalization program that follows the National Main Street Center's community-based approach to preservation and development. There are currently 13 certified Main Street organizations in West Virginia.
"I want to help bring people to Elkins so we can show them how wonderful this town is and everything it has to offer," Eason said. "There's a lot here for people from other areas to enjoy."
Eason, who was employed at Davis Trust Company as a Special Project Manager until her departure last week, has experience creating and bringing an array of different activities to the area as she's a volunteer member of Our Town Inc.
"We are going to continue to collaborate with Our Town," Eason said. "I've worked with everyone there and I'm pretty close with them. We are going to work together to brighten things up and have events and different things that get people involved."
Eason replaces Vince Trimboli, who resigned from the post in October due to time constraints involving his teaching position at West Virginia Wesleyan College. Trimboli took over for Madalyn Higgins, who left in May 2022.
Eason, who is currently working on her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Administration from West Virginia State University, is also a member of the Kiwanis Club of Elkins.
Eason is originally from the Kansas City, Missouri area, and moved to Elkins 13 years ago. She has a 13-year old son, Maximus, who is a seventh-grade student at Elkins Middle School.
