ELKINS -- As another sign that spring is on its way, the City of Elkins will begin its 2023 street sweeper schedule on April 10, city officials announced.
Tickets for street sweeper parking violations will be issued starting on Monday, May 1.
"To reduce strain on the wastewater treatment plant and to maintain a visually attractive streetscape, the City of Elkins operates a street sweeper from late spring through early fall," a City of Elkins press release reads.
Elkins sweeps streets Mondays through Fridays during the spring, summer and fall seasons, sweeping each city street once per week. During the street sweeper's operating season, the Elkins City Police will ticket vehicles left parked on streets scheduled for street sweeping.
Residents are asked to review the 2023 Elkins street sweeper schedule to learn when they will need to move their automobiles.

Davis Avenue; 11th Street; 15th Street; 14th Street; Henry Avenue; John Street; Kerens Avenue; Railroad Avenue; South 12th Street; Scott Street; South Davis Avenue (11th Street to 15th Street); South Railroad Avenue; 10th Street; 13th Street; Ward Avenue (South Davis Avenue to Livingston Avenue).
Monday 8 a.m.-Noon:

"Notification of cancelled street-sweeper runs will be issued when possible," the city press release states. "However, when the sweeper route is cut short due to mechanical problems, inclement weather, operator emergencies, or other factors beyond our control, it is not always possible to issue such notifications.
"The best practice is to establish a routine of moving vehicles on the appointed day and continue that practice weekly until the end of sweeper season," the release continues.
