Haddix chosen as 85th Forest Festival’s Woodly the Elf

ELKINS -- A Beverly Elementary student has been named as the official Woodly the Elf for the 85th Mountain State Forest Festival.
Braelyn Haddix, a second-grader at the school, was honored at Beverly Elementary this week, with MSFF officials present for the occasion.
Mountain State Forest Festival Director General Jon Morgan and Queen's Department Director Megan Casto were on hand to congratulate Haddix for winning the annual Woodly the Elf poster contest.
Officials said Haddix's poster "beautifully captured" the 85th Mountain State Forest Festival's theme, "Endlessly Wild & Wonderful."
She is the daughter of Amie and Tim Haddix of Beverly.
Haddix will have the honor of serving as Woodly the Elf throughout this fall's festival, and will become a member of the Royal Minor Court of Queen Silvia LXXXV.
As the official mascot of the 85th Mountain State Forest Festival, Haddix will also make appearances at other festivals around the area in the future.
Woodly is chosen each year as a Randolph County student in the second, third or fourth grades. Students from home, private or public schools are eligible to compete.
The Mountain State Forest Festival is scheduled to run Sept. 30 through Oct. 8 in Elkins.
Join Haddix and the Royal Court of Maid Silvia LXXXV, as they descend coronation hill at her crowning on Friday, Oct. 6 at D&E College.
