Community fundraising cakewalks set to return this week

ELKINS -- A series of community fundraising cakewalks is set to kick off its third year with an event Friday evening.
Citizens Promoting Community is a group of like-minded community-oriented individuals working together to create family friendly and fun events for the Elkins community. This year the group has a full summer schedule of events in store for the Elkins area.
The first Community Cakewalk is scheduled for Friday, with proceeds benefiting the Appalachian Wounded Warriors. Future cakewalks are scheduled for June 23, July 7, July 21 Aug. 4 and Aug. 18.
The cakewalks will take place in the Citizens Bank of West Virginia parking lot. Ticket sales will start at 5:30 p.m., with the cakewalk commencing at 6 p.m.
During the cakewalk, 50/50 tickets will be available for purchase, with the winning ticket drawn at 7:30 p.m. Although not directly associated with Citizens Bank of West Virginia, Citizens Promoting Community officials appreciate their continued support in bringing the community together.
Citizens Promoting Community has added a bonus all-day event this year on Saturday, July 8 at the Rotary Amphitheater. Additional details will be announced in the coming weeks.
Citizens Promoting Community began in 2021. Since then more than $6,500 has been raised for a number of community organizations. Last year, Citizens Promoting Community was nominated and selected for the "Extra Mile Heroes" Award.
