HUTTONSVILLE -- No names will be on the ballot for the Huttonsville general election on June 13, as the incumbent mayor and city council members are now running as write-ins after they all missed the deadline to register as candidates.
Dante Ottolini, a representative at Huttonsville's town hall, confirmed for The Inter-Mountain Wednesday that the current Huttonsville mayor and all city council members inadvertently missed the January deadline to officially be on the general election ballot.
All five council members and the mayor are asking voters to write in their names in the June 13 election, he said.
"They just have to vote for themselves and they're in," said Ottolini. He also explained the challenge the town faces with getting people in the area to run for government positions.
"Getting people to run is impossible," Ottolini said.
No one is on the Huttonsville ballot for town recorder, and no one is known to be running as a write-in candidate for the position either, he said.
Huttonsville's current mayor is Reuben Currence. The current council members are Marvella Currence, Jedson Liggett, Lisa Shrader, Suzanne Thompson and Jenny Lanham.

Meanwhile, in Harman, only three names are on the ballot for five town council positions in the June 13 town election. For the other two slots, a line has been placed on the ballot over the word "write-in."
Jerry D. Teter is on the ballot for Harman mayor.
The three candidates on the ballot for town council are Vikki M. Mowery, Roger Roy and Ralph M. Mowery Sr.
Patty Teter is running for town recorder.

In Mill Creek, four candidates are on the ballot for the five town council positions in the June 13 election.
Two candidates are on the ballot running for mayor: Gary Coffman and Bill Brock.
The four candidates listed on the ballot for the five town council slots are Tom Proudfoot, Michael Parrack, Kathy Stalnaker and Greg Teter.
Carolyn Meade is on the ballot running for town recorder.

Also on June 13, the Montrose town election will take place.
All seven candidates in the election are running unopposed.
Patrick Wilfong is on the ballot running for mayor.
The five candidates for town council are James Bartlett, April Arbogast, William England, Jeffrey Arbogast and Blair Taylor.
Sharon Bedford is the sole candidate for town recorder.
