BEVERLY -- The 2023 Beverly Fireman's Festival begins today with a horseshoe tournament and the Little Miss Beverly Pageant, continuing with a week full of events, entertainment and food, ending Aug. 19 with a golf tournament at the Elks Country Club.
"We're sticking to what we've traditionally done," Devon Channell, who is a senior firefighter and the chairman of the Fireman Festival Committee, told The Inter-Mountain.
The festivities will begin today at 10 a.m. with a horseshoe tournament at the Beverly Volunteer Firehouse. Registration for the tournament opens at 9:30 a.m. The Beverly Firemen's Festival Queens Pageant will be held at Beverly Elementary School at 6 p.m.
On Monday there will be a special bingo at the Firehouse with a jackpot of $1,000. The door opens at 5 p.m. and the event will begin at 6:45 p.m.
Tuesday will see the Firehouse hosting a Pet Show and an ice cream social, both at 6:45 p.m. On Wednesday, there will be a cakewalk at the Firehouse starting at 6 p.m.
Starting at 6 p.m. on Thursday the community will have free, open access to inflatables. That same day is Community Appreciation Night, along with Kids Night, which will begin at 6:30 p.m. The event will feature free hotdogs, chips, cookies and water.
On Friday, the free inflatables will be open to the community again starting at 6 p.m. At 7 p.m. the Soda Pop Gypsies will be performing at the Firehouse. Wyatt Turner will also be performing at the Firehouse at 9 p.m. The Fireman's Festival fireworks show will begin at 10 p.m.
July 29 will see the Craft Show starting at 8 a.m. and ending at 3 p.m. The Lumberjack Competition will begin at 10 a.m. at the Firehouse. The inflatables will also open to the public again at that time. The Chicken Barbecue will begin at 11 a.m. and dinners will cost $10 each. The Fireman's Festival Parade line-up also will be at 11 a.m. on Edmonton Avenue with the parade starting at noon. The Awards Presentation will be at 2 p.m., and at 2:30 p.m. Gracie Metheny will perform at the Firehouse.
On Aug. 19, the Fireman's Festival will host a golf tournament. Registration opens at 8 a.m. at the Elks Country Club, and tee off will be at 9 a.m.
