BUCKHANNON -- The Pallottine Foundation of Buckhannon, in partnership with Volunteer West Virginia, is planning to host a free workshop for nonprofit organizations to focus on volunteer recruitment and management.
The workshop will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Aug. 9 in the Greek Alumni Room at West Virginia Wesleyan College in Buckhannon.
Lunch will be provided during the event. The interactive workshop will focus on building, growing and sustaining a strong volunteer base.
"The nonprofit organizations that attended our previous workshops in Buckhannon communicated a need for continuing education on how to recruit and retain volunteers, which are essential to their work in the community," said Janell Ray, executive director of the Pallottine Foundation of Buckhannon.
"We are pleased to partner with Volunteer West Virginia on this valuable learning opportunity as we continue to look for new ways to support nonprofits in the counties we serve," Ray said.
The Pallottine Foundation of Buckhannon was established with proceeds from the sale of St. Joseph's Hospital, and continues the legacy established by the Pallottine Missionary Sisters of caring for the spiritual, emotional, and physical health of those in the region.
The Foundation focuses its efforts on six primary areas: food insecurity, health and wellness, leadership development, spiritual and pastoral care, substance use disorder, and tobacco use prevention and cessation. Its service area includes Barbour, Lewis, Randolph, Upshur and Webster counties.
Attendees should be directly connected to a registered nonprofit organization. Online registration is required at BuckhannonVolunteerTraining.eventbrite.com. Space is limited.
