BUCKHANNON — A man is behind bars after allegedly leading police on a high-speed chase while driving an ATV.
Isaac Prichard, 28, is being held in the Tygart Valley Regional Jail on a $25,000 cash only bond.
According to a press release from the Upshur County Sheriff’s Office, on July 22 at approximately 7:40 p.m., officers saw an ATV driving on Stony Run Road toward Brushy Fork Road.
Officers said they observed the ATV drive into the opposite lane of traffic and not stop before making a left turn onto Brushy Fork Road, the release states. The officers activated their emergency lights and sirens.
The driver, Prichard, continued at a high rate of speed on Brushy Fork Road past Stonecoal Road, at speeds reaching 67 miles per hour, according to the release.
Prichard eventually “pulled into a random driveway” and stopped, and officers ordered him off the ATV, the release states.
Prichard’s field sobriety tests led to him being given a breathalyzer test, which indicated a blood alcohol content level of .130, police said.
Prichard was operating a 2022 Can-AM Renegade XMR 1000, the release stated.
