PARSONS -- There will be a little bit of something for everyone to enjoy during the 2023 Tucker County Fair that kicks off Sunday and will run through Aug. 26 at Camp Kidd.
The fair schedule officially begins on Sunday with a Church and Gospel sing in the upper field at 10 a.m. The sing will be followed by an Equestrian Show at the same location, and an Adult Strongman Competition at the fairgrounds at 11 a.m.
The activities on Sunday will be capped off with the TCF's First Annual Tractor, Truck, Bike and Car Show at 1 p.m. The event will be at the fairgrounds and registration is from 10 a.m. until noon. Categories include, Best of Show, Best Restored, Best Unrestored, People's Choice, Furthest Traveled, and more.
On Monday, Open Exhibits registration will be from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., as well as the Livestock and 4-H check-ins from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Hillbilly Fun Attractions and Amusements will be open at the fairgrounds from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., and the Teen and Queen Pageants will take place at the main state at 6 p.m.
Hillbilly Fun is the "newest, biggest and most high-tech party fun in West Virginia," officials said. Hillbilly Fun will feature inflatables, ranging from obstacle courses to a giant monster truck, a mechanical bull, twister ride, and games. Hillbilly Fun will be open daily from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. beginning on Monday.
The Baby and Children's Pageants will be held on Tuesday at 5 p.m., followed by the Poultry and Rabbit Conformation Showmanship Show in the barn. The Pet Show is slated for 6:30 p.m.
Beginning at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, there will be Conformation and Breeding Shows in the barn and a Cake Walk by Celebrate Recovery at the fairgrounds. Later in the night at 7:30 p.m., there will be live music by Zona Hester as well as a Children's Strongman Competition.
The schedule on Thursday features Showmanship, Bingo, and Pony Rides at the fairgrounds beginning at 6 p.m. Live music from Rocky and Nina Hebb will be on the stage at 7 p.m.
Live music from Cody Maxwell will get the evening started on Friday when he takes the stage at 5 p.m. There will be a Celebrity Goat Milking Contest at the barn at 5:30 p.m., and a PeeWee and Old Timer shows at 6 p.m. The night will be capped off by a performance from Carson Peters & Iron Mountain at 7 p.m.
Things get started early on Saturday with the AG Olympics slated to begin at 10 a.m. The Fifth Annual Mud Bog Races will begin at 1 p.m. in the upper field, while the Buyers Registration and Dinner will be held in the barn at 4 p.m. A Pie and Cake Auction will take place at 5 p.m. and the Livestocks Sale will be in the barn at 6 p.m. Spectators can begin entering the gates for the Mud Bog Races at 11 a.m.
