ELKINS -- Two Pennsylvania residents are behind bars after allegedly attempting to steal merchandise from the Elkins Walmart store on the Beverly Five-lane.
Dillon James O'Rourke, 32, and Briana Nicole Huchko, 27, from McDonald, Pennsylvania, were both arrested and booked on Sunday.
O'Rourke is charged with conspiracy, entry of a building other than a dwelling, and grand larceny. Huchko has been charged with conspiracy.
Both suspects are lodged in the Tygart Valley Regional Jail. O'Rourke's bond has been set at $25,000 cash-only, while Huchko has a $10,000 cash-only bond.
According to the criminal complaint, Sgt. B.W. Cogar of the Randolph County Sheriff's Office responded to a call on Aug. 12 at the Elkins Walmart in reference to an incident that had occurred the night before, in which a subject removed items that had previously been hidden around the store .
The complaint states a man and woman were seen on video selecting items from the store. The man then placed the items in the outdoor garden area. Later that night, the man cut the fence in the outdoor garden area where the items were hidden. He removed them from the property, got into the passenger seat of a dark-colored sedan and fled the scene.
According to the criminal complaint, the two were later identified as O'Rourke and Huchko. Officers said Huchko purchased items on the same night of the incident with a credit card, and after police checked into previous transactions with the same card, they were able to obtain her name.
Due to previous incidents at Walmarts located in both West Virginia and Pennsylvania, police were provided photos of both suspects after entering Huchko's name into the Walmart database. Both subjects had been previously banned from all Walmart properties, according to the complaint.
Walmart loss prevention was able to provide police with a list of the items stolen, which came to a total amount of the merchandise was $1,868.15.
