ELKINS -- Betty's Boots is scheduled to begin offering indoor dining at its new location on Harrison Avenue Wednesday.
The business, which moved from its former location just outside of Beverly back in June, has been selling boots at the new facility since August. But now renovations to the restaurant and dining area are complete.
"We had to do a total remodel in the building, so it's taken us a while to get everything ready to go," said owner Amanda Mastrogiuseppe. "We started selling boots and shoes back in August. We are excited to be opening the restaurant part of the business next week."
Betty's Boots originally only sold footwear along with belts, primitive decorations, Thirty-One Bags, and more. But Mastrogiuseppe said she had to find a way to attract more business during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.
"When we got hit with COVID we couldn't get boots," she said. "But we still had bills to pay, so I thought we'd start serving some food. Everyone has to eat so we gave food a try and everyone enjoyed it."
The response to the food at Betty's Boots was pleasing to Mastrogiuseppe and over time different items were added to the menu.
"We have a full variety on our menu now," said Mastrogiuseppe. "We do home-cooked food and we have sandwiches along with a small breakfast menu that is served all day long.
"We also have daily specials where we make meatloaf, spaghetti, chicken alfredo, baked steak, pork chops and a bunch of other different things. We use good quality products and fix the food the way we would want to eat it."
The restaurant will be open Tuesdays through Fridays from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. On Saturdays its hours will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
For those who can't wait until next week's opening, Betty's Boots currently has a food truck set up in the parking lot where customers can grab food from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays.
"We have a pretty good variety of stuff at the food truck," said Mastrogiuseppe. "We have Philly steak sandwiches, pulled pork, Italian sausage, loaded fries, hot dogs, corn dogs, Italian subs and more."
When it comes to footwear, the business sells a wide variety of brands that includes Rocky, Georgia, Durango, Timberland, Smokey, Lacrosse, Chippewa, Dingo, Twisted X, Hey Dude, Wolverine and Tony Lama.
