BUCKHANNON -- Community Care of West Virginia honored its outgoing CEO for his 30 years of service by dedicating the office building to him.

A commemorative plaque featuring a likeness of Rick Simon was unveiled during a ceremony attended by community members, Upshur County Chamber of Commerce representatives, and CCWV staff.

When Simon began at Community Care in 1993, the organization served about 7,500 patients. Three decades later, Community Care now serves 55,000 patients, through clinics and school-based health centers across seven counties within the state.

"This growth mirrors not only Simon's tireless commitment but also his exceptional ability to foster an environment of excellence, compassion, and community spirit," a Community Care press release states.

Earlier this month, Simon received the Distinguished Service Award from the West Virginia Primary Care Association.

"It's easy to do good things when you're around good people," Simon said. "I've had the blessing over the years of having a wonderful board, but even a greater blessing of having a wonderful group of employees and a tremendous management team."

The CEO position is being taken over by Trish Collett, who has worked alongside Simon for 20 years.

"He's been a great mentor as I've grown in my career," Collett said. "I'm very excited and honored that the future of this organization has been entrusted to me, and I look forward to continuing the good work we do at Community Care."

Community Care of West Virginia is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) serving more than 50,000 patients from 30 West Virginia counties with 17 community health center locations, 51 school-based health sites, seven 340(b) pharmacies, and one dental office.

Community Care of West Virginia employs more than 500 health professionals, including MD, DO, FNP, PA-C, psychiatrists, psychologists, LICSW, LCSW, LGSW, RPH and DDS's.
