ELKINS — Elkins High School has chosen its 2023 Homecoming Court, which will be presented at the EHS home football game against Grafton Friday.
Representing the freshmen class is Reese Markley. Reese is involved in competitive gymnastics and dance. She also enjoys skiing. She is a member of class council and student government. She plans on attending West Virginia University and becoming a physician’s assistant specializing in pediatrics. She is the daughter of Anthony and Lona Markley.
Representing the sophomore class is Lillyana Grace Betler. She is an honor student and a member of the soccer team. She is a member of the Center Stage Competition team that was crowned National Champions in June. She plans on attending college to pursue a career in the medical field. She is the daughter of Scott and Lori Betler.
Representing the junior class is Ellyse Goddard. She is a member of the EHS band and is involved in Highland dance in the Old Brick Apprentice program. She also works at the Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church after school program. She plans to attend Bowling Green State University in Ohio for a child development degree. She is the daughter of Amy Goddard and Scott Goddard.
Senior princess Elenore Wren Berdine is a member of the varsity volleyball team and is a receptionist at Salon Bumbi. She is the secretary of National Honor Society, is the historian of Student Government and is a member of class council, and Spanish National Honor Society. She plans on attending WVU and majoring in neuroscience. She is the daughter of Ashton and Debbie Berdine.
Senior princess Aliyah Danielle Biller is a varsity cheerleader and works at the Elks in the summer. She is a member of student government, class council, National Honor Society and Spanish National Honor Society. She plans on attending Davis & Elkins College for a degree in a medical field. She is the daughter of Todd and Lisa Biller.
Senior princess Cadence Carter attends Otterbein Methodist Church, works at Serendipity and has been on the honor roll for the past six semesters. She is serving as the president of National Honor Society, is a member of Spanish National Honor Society, is a member at large of class council and is the secretary of student government. She plans on attending WVU for a computer science degree. She is the daughter of Travis Carter and Amanda Carter.
Senior princess Gracelin Jean Corley is a member of varsity soccer, basketball and track teams. She is an active member of National Honor Society and Spanish National Honor Society. She plans to attend Fairmont State University to pursue a career in nursing. She is the daughter of Jon and Felicia Corley.
Senior princess Laney Fletcher has participated in varsity soccer, basketball and track. She is a four-year member of class council and a two-year member of National Honor Society. She plans to attend Marshall University to obtain a degree in the medical field. She is the daughter of Levi and Denise Fletcher.
Senior princess Emerson Grace Haddix is a four-year volleyball, basketball and softball athlete. She has been in 4-H for 10 years and has been vice president of her class council for the last two years and a member of class council for four years. She plans to attend Potomac State University to obtain a bachelor’s degree in nursing. She is the daughter of Ted and Abby Haddix.
Senior princess Kourtney Nicole Jones is a member of Randolph County 4-H. She is a member of the Canann Valley Ski patrol. She is a EMS intern, a lifeguard and a model. She is the senior class president, a member of National Honor Society, a Skills USA member, and a member of National Technical Honor Society. She plans to attend Marshall University to pursue a BSN in nursing and become a travel RN. She is the daughter of JW and Amanda Jones.
Senior princess Macie Elizabeth Romero is a member of varsity soccer and tennis. She is a member of student government and class council. She is a Girls State alumni and a member of the Rivers of Living Waters ministries and Forged in Faith Youth group. She plans on attending WVU to obtain a degree in nursing and then attending cosmetology school. She wants a career as an aesthetic nurse. She is the daughter of Brian and Beverly Romero.
Senior princess Abby Sherrill is a snowboarder and a certified scuba diver. She attended Rhododendren Girls State and is an Augusta Scholarship recipient. She plans on attending WVU to study interior architecture. She is the daughter of Burt and Adrienne Sherrill.
Senior princess Saniya Pratt Taylor is a dancer and teacher at Dance by Farrah. She is a member of Skills USA. She plans on attending WVU for either physical therapy or cosmetology. She is the daughter of Seth and Michelle Pratt.
The flower girl is Elizabeth Alduncin Phipps. She is a first-grader at Jennings Randolph Elementary School. She is the daughter of Samantha Phipps and Carlos Alduncin Falconi. She is granddaughter of Mark and Terri Phipps.
The crown bearer is Titus Parlock. He is a third-grader at North Elementary School. He is the son of Michael and Shanna Parlock. His siblings are Isaiah and Emma Parlock. He is the grandson of Sam and Debby Scarberry and Mark and Donna Phillips.
The flower girl and crown bearer will be escorted by assistant principals Brian Currence and Amrit Rayfield.
The 2023 Queen will be crowned by the 2022 Homecoming Queen, Kendall Flynn. Kendall is attending WVU and majoring in elementary education. She will be escorted by EHS Principal Carla Lambert.
The Homecoming Parade will begin at 6:30 p.m. Friday from the Elkins Bowling Alley, and then proceed to the school.
