Downtown windows honor Forest Festival

Hundreds of dolls from previous Mountain State Forest Festivals are featured in a unique window display at T.D.'s Classic Tees on Third Street in Elkins.
ELKINS -- Mountain State Forest Festival Director General Jon Morgan is proud to announce the completion of the downtown Elkins window decorating. The unique displays allow spectators from all over to enjoy a trip down memory lane.
Windows will be "judged" next week by the Director General, Maid Silvia LXXXV, and the two Royal Maids of Honor, with each selecting their favorite business window display. Business owners who are selected with a winning window will receive an exclusive Mountain State Forest Festival Plaque in honor of their window display.
Assistant Director Karrah Washington told The Inter-Mountain, "The windows are a wonderful asset to the Mountain State Forest Festival and are prepared with a lot of love from various volunteers." Washington strategically plans each window in April of the festival year in coordination with her outstanding committee members.
"I am blessed with a great group of volunteers that put a tremendous amount of hard work into each display. It is an honor to work with each of them annually," she said. "Additionally, it is also a pleasure to work with all business owners to ensure their window is what they envision with their MSFF display."
For the 85th Mountain State Forest Festival, a themed window including parents and siblings of children and/or maids in the 2023 Royal court is displayed beside Mama Mias, at the prior Polish Parlor. This is a new theme displayed this year and the families are very happy to see this display come to life.
Please keep in mind, businesses outside of downtown Elkins also have displays, including but not limited to Nikki Rogers State Farm, Freedom Bank, the prior Dodd's Flower Shop, Top Knot Hair LLC, and Davis Medical Center's Marketplace, that are available to view as well.
The downtown windows range from Pioneer Insurance to Hollywood Hair on Elkins Main Street. Displays are also available from Destination Beauty to Joey's Bike Shop on Third Street.
MSFF officials highly encourage everyone to enjoy a trip downtown to enjoy all the beautiful displays and take a stroll down memory lane.
Director General Jon Morgan told The Inter-Mountain, "I appreciate the tremendous effort put into the window exhibits, which beautifully showcase our festival's rich traditions. Karrah's dedication has illuminated our town by making our event even more special. A special thank you to her for all her hard work.
"We are looking forward to the 85th Mountain State Forest Festival and will be celebrating this year's theme, 'Endlessly Wild and Wonderful.'"
The 85th edition of the Mountain State Forest Festival will take place from Saturday, Sept. 30 through Sunday, Oct. 8.
