ELKINS - A Chenoweth Creek Road man was indicted for murder Monday by a Randolph County grand jury, one of 37 individuals named in indictments.
Stephen Ray Cross, 55, currently an inmate at Tygart Valley Regional Jail, was indicted on one count of murder, and one felony count of use or presentation of a firearm during commission of a felony.
On March 27, Cross was taken into custody after a shooting that took the life of Jonathan Chenoweth.
According to the criminal complaint, Cross shot Chenoweth, who was unarmed, after Chenoweth pulled into Cross’s driveway in a UTV.
A witness told police that Chenoweth was upset with Cross for shooting a dog.
