ELKINS -- Events and activities for alumni, families and friends are planned for Davis & Elkins College's Homecoming Weekend, which will run from Friday through Sunday.
The weekend will also make history, as the college's new Davis Trust Company Player & Press Pavilion at Nuttal Field will be dedicated on Saturday.
Other weekend events include alumni awards, athletic scrimmages, class reunions and inductions to the Davis & Elkins Athletic Hall of Fame.
Friday's events will include a sport science classroom discussion, a mini-wellness fair, and an intra-squad baseball scrimmage.
Friday evening will feature a special dinner with D&E President Chris A. Wood and First Lady Lisa Wood to celebrate the Half Century Club, including a Class of 1973 reunion and Alumni Award recipients.
Honors will be presented to: Kimberly M. Farry '85, recipient of the Tower Award; Nicolaas P. Pronk '86, Distinguished Alumnus Award recipient; Makeia R. Jonese '18, Outstanding Young Alumna award recipient; and Amanda Yeargan Monroe '02, recipient of the Alumni Volunteer Award.
Saturday's schedule of events includes the Athletic Hall of Fame inductions of Judy Eadson '67; Rod O'Savio '80; Nancy Davis Much '84; Coach Will Shaw; and, posthumously, Rildo Ferreira '71 and George "Chick" Rao '60.
Following the induction ceremony, the new Davis Trust Company Player & Press Pavilion will be dedicated at Nuttal Field.
Soccer games will follow Saturday, with the Senator women's soccer squad facing Fairmont State University, and the men's soccer team in a match against the University of Charleston.
The evening will include a field hockey reunion dinner to honor Coach A. Jean "Doc" Minnick, an alumni football gathering at Jimbo's Place, a chapel and memorial service and a party in the Icehouse.
On Sunday, to close out Homecoming Weekend, alumni are invited to a Farewell Breakfast in the Madden Student Center.
