BEVERLY -- Emergency crews were dispatched to a single-car accident near Hayfield Drive on Tuesday night.
Once on scene, the Randolph County Sheriff's Office discovered that Volkswagen car had struck a power pole and that lies were laying across one of the lanes of traffic.
According to police, the vehicle had lost control while navigating a curve and went into the ditch line next to the roadway. The car traveled through the ditch line before hitting the pole and spinning around.
The vehicle was deemed a total loss and the driver of the car was uninjured. The driver advised police he was looking down while navigating the curve and was cited for failure to maintain control.
