BELINGTON -- Barbour Community Health Association has opened a second walk-in urgent care facility in the county.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held to celebrate the official grand opening of Barbour Quick Care in Belington. The new facility is located at 95 South Crim Avenue in Belington and is open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.
"We are very excited to be able to expand and open a second walk-in clinic in Barbour County," said Eric Ruf, CEO of the Barbour Community Health Association.
"At the Barbour Community Health Association, we recognize the importance of supporting a growing community by providing convenient access to quality medical services close to home. This new facility offers same-day quality healthcare services to residents of all ages in Belington and the surrounding region."
Ruf said no one will be denied care at the new walk-in clinic. The organization offers programs for low-income and moderate individuals and families without health insurance or high insurance deductibles.
"Community-based care should be assessable and affordable to residents in rural communities in West Virginia," Ruf said. "This new facility allows the Barbour Community Health Association to serve more patients in an underserved community. It reaches people who don't have time to schedule an appointment to get treatment for small illnesses."
The first Barbour Quick Care opened in Philippi in November 2022.
Healthcare services provided at Barbour Quick Cares include treatment for colds, influenza, scrapes, sore throats, and other non-life threatening illnesses. They also offer imaging, lab services, physicals and immunizations for individuals and families.
The new Belington Barbour Quick Care is located at the site of the former Schoonover Funeral Home in downtown Belington, which the Barbour Community Health Association purchased in recent years.
Federal grant funding was used to complete the renovations.
"The building houses Barbour Community Health Association's business offices in addition to the new Barbour Quick Care," Ruf noted.
In addition to the Barbour Quick Care in Belington, the Barbour Community Health Association operates several other health facilities in the area: Myers Clinic (116 McClellan Dr., Philippi), Belington Medical Clinic & Wellness Center (70 North Sturmer Street, Belington), Philippi Wellness Center (22 Columbia Street, Philippi), and the Brandon Wellness Center at Philip Barbour High School (99 Horseshoe Drive, Philippi).
The organization also offers school-based health services at Philippi Elementary School, Junior Elementary School, Kasson Elementary-Middle School, Philippi Middle School, and Belington Elementary-Middle School.
