BEVERLY -- The annual Breakfast with Santa event will be held during Beverly's Old-Fashioned Christmas celebration on Dec. 2 at the Beverly Fire Hall.
The breakfast, which will be served from 8 a.m. until 11 a.m., is hosted by the 2024 Elkins High School Senior Class and the GFWC Junior Woman's Club of Elkins.
All the proceeds from the event will support the 2024 EHS Project Safe Graduation.
"We are going to be behind the scenes at this event, while the kids will be the ones working the breakfast," GFWC Woman's Club President Angie Lowther Goff told The Inter-Mountain. "All the money taken in will go toward the senior's graduation party at the end of this school year."
Project Safe Graduation is an annual party that the GFWC Woman's Club hosts each spring on graduation night. The drug- and alcohol-free event allows students to spend the night at a safe party location. Over the years the party has traditionally been held at the Phil Gainer Community Center and has featured an array of events and activities for new graduates.
Those attending Breakfast with Santa will be served two pancakes, two sausage links, and a beverage. Dine-in and carry-out are available and tickets can be purchased from any EHS senior or online through www.evenbrite.com.
"We always have a good turnout for Breakfast with Santa," Goff said. "We didn't have it for one year during COVID, and the following year when we brought it back, we had so many people that there was about a 35-minute wait. We usually serve anywhere between 200 and 300 breakfasts."
Children attending will be able to meet Santa Claus during the breakfast and have a photo taken with jolly old Saint Nicholas.
"Besides Santa and Mrs. Claus, who the kids are always excited to see, we are also going to have a couple other guest appearances this year," said Goff. "We are actually going to have the Grinch and Buddy the Elf stop by."
The GFWC Junior Woman's Club has hosted Breakfast with Santa since its inception more than 10 years ago.
"It actually started out as aJunior's project itself to raise money for various things that the Juniors Club did," said Goff. "But we broke it off and made it an actual event just for the Project Safe Graduation party."
