ELKINS -- A Public Service District in Randolph County has been given the go-ahead by the state to pursue funding for a water project.
The Midland PSD is seeking financing for a water storage improvements project estimated to cost $1.7 million.
The West Virginia Infrastructure and Jobs Development Council recently approved technical reviews and requests to pursue funding for 11 sewer and water projects across the state, including the Midland PSD project.
The approval of these reviews and requests helps cities, municipalities and public service districts save taxpayer money and keep their projects moving. The 11 projects were found to be technically feasible and approved to pursue funding.
Also, the West Virginia Infrastructure and Jobs Development Council announced $2.8 million in funding for sewer and water projects around the state, including
∫ The council approved a $665,000 grant ($165,000 bid overrun) and $1.34 million loan to the Logan County PSD to provide water service to 87 homes along Upper Huff Creek and Brush Fork in Wyoming County. These funds, along with funds from the Community Development Block Grant program, the Wyoming County Commission and other funding programs, provide $4 million for this project.
∫ The council approved a $665,000 grant ($165,000 bid overrun) to the Pea Ridge PSD in Cabell County to provide sewer service to 258 customers, from Jacqueline Heights to WV Rt. 2 and then to Cox Landing. This grant, along with funds from the Clean Water State Revolving Fund, and other funding programs, provides $13.1 million for this project.
∫ The council approved a $122,545 grant to the Salt Rock PSD in Cabell County to extend sewer service to the Fox Fire Resort. This grant, along with funds from Congressionally Directed Spending, the PSD's Contribution and other funding programs, will provide $373,000 for this project.
The WV IJDC was created by the WV Legislature in 1994 to serve as a funding clearinghouse for water and wastewater projects around the state. Gov. Jim Justice serves as council chairman, with Deputy Chief of Staff Ann Urling serving as his designee.
