CHARLESTON -- School construction and renovation projects in Randolph, Barbour and Tucker counties are among the 23 statewide projects that the West Virginia School Building Authority announced Tuesday will be receiving allocation funding.
Randolph County will receive $558,110 for a partial roof replacement at Elkins Middle School, Gov. Jim Justice announced Tuesday.
Tucker County will receive $1,965,945 for wastewater treatment plant upgrades for Tucker County High School.
Barbour County will receive $1,642,102 for renovations at Philippi Elementary School.
Justice, as Chairman of the School Building Authority, announced Tuesday the SBA has approved an allocation of $111,687,534 to 19 counties for Fiscal Year 2024.
This funding, the largest annual award by the SBA since 2011, will be used to construct 10 new schools and perform major renovations on 13 existing schools across the state.
"I am truly proud to vote for this historic investment in our schools, because it represents our unwavering commitment to providing West Virginia students with the best possible learning environment," Justice said.
"This funding doubles down on our belief that every student deserves access to a high-quality education. These new and upgraded facilities will ensure our students have the resources and technology needed to succeed in the classroom and beyond."
Other counties receiving funding include Harrison, which will receive $5,842,600 for additions and renovations at Nutter Fort Primary School and Simpson Elementary School.
Grant County will receive $4,755,330 for additions and renovations at Petersburg Elementary School.
Taylor County will receive $7,306,600 for construction of the new Anna Jarvis Elementary School.
Funding to build new schools was also provided to Berkeley, Wood, Wyoming, Fayette and Marshall counties.
