ELKINS – The annual Spay-ghetti fundraising dinner hosted by the Randolph County Humane Society will be offered Feb. 24 at the Phil Gainer Community Center.
It will be the 12th annual edition of the popular event, featuring spaghetti and meatballs prepared by the St. Patrick's Guild of Coalton. The dinner is scheduled to run from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., and dine-in or take-out dinners will be available.
"The annual Spay-ghetti Dinner is dedicated to raising awareness and funding for spaying and neutering," Randolph County Humane Society Board President Jenna Lee told The Inter-Mountain. "Spaying and neutering is critical as it addresses pet overpopulation in the most humane way possible before it ever gets out of control."
The annual Spay-ghetti Dinner has become a popular event among area residents over the years, and Lee is hoping for another big turnout at this year's fundraiser.
"This has historically been one of our biggest annual events and we are hoping that the community will help us make this year's the best one we've done," she said. "Dinners have sold out in previous years and we hope to do that again at this year's event."
With the Ladies Guild from the St. Patrick's Church in Coalton once again preparing the spaghetti and meatballs, it's a safe bet that all of the food will be gone by the end of the event.
"We are excited to have the Ladies Guild back again this year," Lee said. "They have been helping the Randolph County Humane Society with the dinner for many years and our community is fortunate to have them."
In addition to the dinner, the event will feature frequent parades of adoptable dogs and cats. Randolph County Humane Society merchandise will be for sale at the event, which will also feature a 50-50 raffle.
Tickets are still available and can be purchased at the RCHS animal shelter or the Delmonte Market, from RCHS board members, and at local veterinary offices. More information can be obtained online at rchswv.org.
