PARSONS – A state official visited Tucker County this week bearing unclaimed property checks.

The Tucker County Board of Education and St. George Medical Clinic were presented with more than $44,000 by State Treasurer Riley Moore.

“My office had a strong start to the year by returning millions of dollars to West Virginians,” Moore said. “Through expanding our outreach and partnerships across the state, we will build upon this momentum to reunite our citizens with their lost funds,” Treasurer Moore said. “I’m delighted the Tucker County Board of Education and St. George Medical Clinic will use these funds to benefit families in Tucker County and the surrounding region.”

Moore presented an unclaimed property check worth $30,915.14 to St. George Medical Clinic during a ceremony at the Tucker County Board of Education Office.

“The money returned to us will be reinvested into our local community for the health and well-being of our patients and neighbors through community partners, such as the Tucker County Family Support Center and the Tucker County Board of Education, as well as services offered from the St. George Clinic and our 340-B pharmacy,” said Paul Wamsley, the clinic’s executive director.

St. George Medical Clinic is the only full-service retail pharmacy in Parsons that serves patients in Tucker County and surrounding communities, officials said.

Moore also presented an unclaimed property check worth $13,170 to Tucker County Schools Superintendent Alicia Lambert and schools TCS Treasurer Tracy Teets.

“We greatly appreciate the office of the State Treasurer for returning these funds, which will be used for our students who are dually enrolled at Tucker County High School and Eastern West Virginia Community & Technical College in the CNA program,” Lambert said.

Moore announced his office returned more than $2.2 million worth of unclaimed property to individuals, businesses and other organizations during the month of January.

The Treasurer’s Office has more than $400 million worth of unclaimed property listings in its database. Currently, Tucker County has more than 8,000 unclaimed property listings worth nearly $1 million for individuals, businesses and organizations.
