ARBOVALE — A Pocahontas County man is behind bars and accused of murdering his wife.
Randall Joel Moore, 44, of Arbovale, has been charged with first degree murder. He is being held in the Tygart Valley Regional Jail without bond.
According to the criminal complaint, on Sunday at approximately 7:15 a.m., Senior Trooper J.A. Peteete, of the Marlinton detachment of the West Virginia State Police, arrived at a location on the Green Bank Road in Arbovale. He saw “a deceased female who was later identified as Monica Jo Moore lying upside down in the fetal position in the passenger seat of a 2021 Jeep Cherokee bearing (a) Virginia temporary registration tag.”
The criminal complaint states that Randall Joel Moore and Monica Jo Moore were married.
Family members at the scene told the officer that Randall Joel Moore “showed up at the address at approximately 6 a.m. covered in blood,” the complaint states. Randall Joel Moore allegedly told them “Monica Moore was dead and he needed help cleaning up stuff.”
The officer “observed multiple blood spatter patterns inside the above stated vehicle and also observed (Randall Joel) Moore had visible wounds to both hands and was covered in blood,” the complaint states.
Inside the residence, officers found “multiple pieces of a broken glass gallon jug… which appeared to be consistent with the fatal injuries of the victim, and Mr. Moore’s hand injuries.”
