ROCK CAVE - An Upshur County man was shot and killed by a juvenile during a domestic incident Wednesday night, police said.
At approximately 7:15 p.m. Wednesday, "Cpl. F. J. Turansky and other Buckhannon Detachment members responded to a residence on Guy Hardman Road in Rock Cave in reference to a domestic altercation with shots fired," a West Virginia State Police release states.
"Upon arriving on scene, the officers learned that Maxwell Laham was in a physical domestic with (a woman) and had shot a 12-gauge shotgun at her," the release reads.
The woman and a juvenile girl were able to leave the residence, but a 15-year-old boy still in the residence "obtained a 20-gauge shotgun and went upstairs," according to the release.
"Maxwell Laham then went upstairs and pointed the firearm at (the boy), who in turn shot Mr. Laham one time in the chest, killing him. No other injuries were reported," the release states.
"This information has been relayed to the Upshur County Prosecuting Attorney," according to the release. "The status of this investigation is active and ongoing."
