ELKINS -- A home-schooled fourth-grader has been named as the official Woodly the Elf for the 86th Mountain State Forest Festival.
Riley Weeks was selected as the winner of the MSFF Woodly the Elf Poster Contest. His poster thoughtfully captured this year's MSFF theme, "Timeless Traditions."
Riley is the son of Laura Weeks of Elkins.
Riley's family and the staff of Citizens Bank of West Virgina Elkins branch were present for the ceremony.
Citizens Bank of WV is the sponsor of Woodly the Elf. Nathaniel Bonnell, CEO of CBWV, presented Riley with a CBWV goodie bag.
A total of 36 posters were submitted to compete in this years poster contest.
Riley will have the honor of serving as Woodly the Elf and will become a member of the Royal Minor Court of Queen Silvia LXXXVI.
As the official mascot of the MSFF, Riley will also make appearances at other festivals around the area in the future.
Woodly is chosen each year as a Randolph County student in the second, third or fourth grades. Students from home, private or public schools are eligible to compete.
The Mountain State Forest Festival is scheduled to run This year's festival will be held from Sept. 28 through Oct. 6.
