ELKINS -- After the opening night of this year's Live & Drive Concert Series was rained out earlier this month, officials with Our Town Inc. and the Mountain State Street Machines are hoping for better weather for Week 2.
The inaugural event of 2024 was set to take place on May 9, and to feature a Cruise-In sponsored by the Mountain State Street Machines and an Our Town concert by Ryan Cain and the Ables.
The kickoff event was to mark the return of Cain and his band to the Rotary Amphitheater stage, where he has performed his rockabilly, honky-tonk and country music for his many area followers in the past.
The concert, which was sponsored by Mountain Valley Bank, will be rescheduled for a future date yet to be determined.
The second Live & Drive event is scheduled for Thursday, May 23 and will feature the second by-weekly Cruise-In at 5 p.m. and a concert by Blue Steel at 6 p.m. Cars participating in the Cruise-In will be set up along Railroad Avenue next to the Elkins Railroad Depot in Town Square.
Harrison County's own Blue Steel, a group of homegrown bluegrass musicians. The band is known for strong vocal harmonies, original music, Christian songs, bluegrass standards, and hymns.
Blue Steel last performed at the Amphitheater alongside the New Relics during the 2022 concert series.
The event will be sponsored by the Delmonte Market.
The remainder of this year's concert series includes: Topshelf (June 13), Matt Mullins and the Bringdowns (June 27), 249th Army Band (July 4), Motorcycle Drive-By (July 5), Rick K Road Show (July 6), Soda Pop Gypsies (July 11), The Family Foundation (July 25), Larry & Joe (Aug. 8), and Cold Chocolate (Aug. 22).
