ELKINS - Davis & Elkins College's Freshmen Village campaign is entering its final phase.

D&E's new Glory Residence Hall, supported by students and alumni alike, will house incoming students during the upcoming academic year.

Donations to the "Creating Home: It Takes a Village" campaign have provided much of the $25 million goal it will take to fund the construction. Support has also come from D&E's student body, led by the Student Government Association, which has pledged a significant gift to the Freshmen Village campaign.

"The Freshmen Village will be a true blessing to D&E students," said D&E President Chris A. Wood. "Each of our donors that have cumulatively contributed 85% of our $25 million campaign goal to date are tangibly expressing their support of our mission and their confidence in our future."

The new residence hall, along with upcoming renovations to Roxanna Booth and Gribble Halls, will form the Freshmen Village at D&E. Glory Residence Hall, has been named by campaign supporter Kathy (Dunbar) Ramsdell, 1974 magna cum laude graduate, for her faith-based history with the College. Ramsdell is a recipient of a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from D&E.

Ramsdell's father founded Dunbar Armored. Following Mr. Dunbar's death, Ramsdell decided to donate a portion of her inheritance from her father's estate to D&E, providing the college with needed financial support for the "Creating Home: It Takes a Village" campaign to construct D&E's Freshmen Village.

"As the campaign enters its final stretch and construction of the Freshmen Village is completed, D&E will look to continue to enrich the college experience through future enhancements to housing for upper class students," a D&E press release states. "A microcosm of the successes D&E continues to see, this campaign is only part of a larger whole that seeks to continue D&E's trajectory of growth."
