MARLINTON -- Pocahontas County residents voted for two judges, a sheriff and multiple county officials during this week's Primary Election.
In the race for Pocahontas County Sheriff, Republican Kenneth "Buster" Varner, from Durbin, received 712 votes. Democrat Troy McCoy, from Hillsboro, garnered 598 votes.
In the race for the Pocahontas County Commission's Southern District seat, Republican Thane A. Ryder received 711 votes, while Republican Timothy Walter Helmick garnered 561. Jay Miller, a Democrat from Hillsboro, received 465 votes.
Pocahontas County Prosecuting Attorney candidate Laura Megan Kershner, a Democrat from Hillsboro, received 385 votes, while Joni O'Neal Nichols, a Democrat from Marlinton, totaled 289 votes.
Robert E. Richardson won the 29th Judicial Circuit Judge Division 1 race, with 1,061 votes, while Ryan Blake totaled 796 votes.
In the 29th Judicial Circuit Judge Division 2 race, Patrick I. Via received 1,396 votes.
Incumbent Division 1 Pocahontas County Magistrate Cynthia Broce-Kelley received 1,602 votes, while incumbent Division 2 Pocahontas County Magistrate Jennifer Dunz totaled 1,259 votes, besting Mark Thompson, who garnered 739.
Incumbent Pocahontas County Board of Education Central District member Howard Samuel Gibson, of Marlinton, totaled 1,169 votes. In the race for the Northern District seat, Emery Grimes totaled 972 votes, while Dawn Baldwin Barrett finished with 954 votes.
Three candidates competed for the 46th District House of Delegates Republican nomination, with incumbent Jeff Campbell receiving 290 votes, Trey Ewing 166 votes, and Thomas Perkins 138 votes.
Paul S. Detch, a Democrat from Lewisburg, received 273 votes.
In the District 66 House of Delegates race, Mill Creek resident Jonathan B. Kyle, a Republican, received 488 votes. Dama M. Nestor, a Democrat, totaled 252 votes.
In the State Senate Senatorial District 11 race, Robbie Morris received 664 votes, while incumbent Republican Robert Karnes garnered 487. Democrat Mandy Smith Weirich totaled 478 votes.
Timothy W. VanReenen of Hillsboro received 1,695 votes to win a Conservation District Supervisor seat. For the second Conservation District Supervisor, Donald McNeel, of Hillsboro, totaled 1,063 votes, and Michelle D. Wilfong, of Dunmore, finished with 875 votes.
Incumbent Pocahontas County Assessor Johnny Pritt, a Republican from Marlinton, received 1,080 votes.
