ELKINS -- Walmart hosted its third annual Car Show on Saturday at the Elkins location.
A total of 39 motorcycle and cars were in attendance, along with many food vendors. WDNE set up a live broadcast from the parking lot and the Randolph County Humane Society was in attendance, with some of their pets that are available for adoption. There were live music performances on site, and prizes were given to the cars to end the afternoon.
All monies collected will go to the Children's Miracle Network. Since the Children's Miracle Network was founded in 1983, more than $7 billion in donations from multiple sources have funded critical life-saving treatments and healthcare services along with research, medical equipment, emotional and health support during difficult hospital stays, as well as financial assistance.
CMN Hospitals funds are unrestricted. Donations are directed to local member hospitals so they can be used where they are needed the most. The local hospital that is being supported is WVU Hospital Children's in Morgantown.
WVU Hospital Children's has been named the top children's hospital in West Virginia by US News and World Report. The hospital has 29 pediatric beds and adolescent beds, 19 pediatric intensive care beds, 39 neonatal intensive/intermediate beds, and a 20-bassinet normal nursery. The facilities are located on one floor of the University Hospital.
Walmart, as a company, has been a partner with CMN for more than 35 years. Together, they have helped children and their families all across the United States.
The campaign will run through July 7.
