ELKINS -- Teresa Toriseva, Democratic candidate for state Attorney General, will serve as guest speaker at the Randolph County Democratic Party's Democracy Dinner, set for Saturday, June 29 at the Elks Country Club.
The fundraising event will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a Meet the Candidates cocktail hour, followed by a dinner buffet catered by local chef Derrick Helzer.
Toriseva, the West Virginia Democratic Party vice chair, is a Wheeling attorney and a top national litigator with extensive experience in mass torts, complex litigation and going against financial giants. She graduated from WVU Law School in 1995 and was awarded the Order of the Coif (top 10% grades) and Order of the Barrister (top 10% courtroom ability), a dual honor few achieve in law schools nationwide.
Toriseva served as president of the West Virginia Association for Justice, a statewide trade association representing more than 500 attorneys in private practice and public service throughout West Virginia and surrounding states. She has also served as Special Assistant Attorney General for the State of West Virginia nine times.
She presently serves as first vice chair of the WV Democratic Party, where it is her role to recruit and encourage candidates to run for office.
Other state Democratic candidates scheduled to attend are Steve Williams, candidate for Governor; Glenn Elliot, running for U.S. Senate; Steve Wendelin, candidate for U.S. Delegate D2; Thornton Cooper, running for Secretary of State; Mary Ann Roebuck Claytor, candidate for Auditor; Deborah Stiles, for Commissioner of Agriculture.
Local Democratic candidates set to attend include Mandy Weirich, running for the State Senatorial District 11 seat; Cody Thompson, candidate for the Delegate District 67 seat; and Dama Nestor, running for the Delegate District 66 seat.
West Virginia Democratic Party leadership scheduled to attend include Ryan Frankenberry, Executive Director; Mike Pushkin, Chair; Sam Petsonk, Second Vice-Chair; Jenny Craig, Secretary; and Nick Casey, Treasurer.
The dinner will be an opportunity for guests to meet local and state candidates running for offices, have a great buffet and enjoy music provided by Katy and Richard McClane. The Elks Country Club is located at 1 Country Club Road, Elkins.
