ELKINS -- Davis & Elkins College, in collaboration with the Elkins-Randolph County YMCA, is thrilled to announce the September to Remember Music Festival, a vibrant celebration of music and community spirit set for Friday.
This highly anticipated, free concert will be held at the Citizens Bank of West Virginia Amphitheatre on the Davis & Elkins College campus. The festival will feature an impressive lineup of musical talent, headlined by the acclaimed reggae band Jah Works, along with performances by Shane Meade & The Sound and Aubrey Rey. Gates will open at 6 p.m., with performances starting at 7 p.m. Admission is free for all attendees.
This festival is made possible through the generous support of local sponsors, led by Citizens Bank of West Virginia. Additional sponsors include Blue Ridge Risk Partners, Davis Trust Company, Elkins Auto, J.F. Allen Company, MegaCorp Logistics, Northern Eagle Distributing and the Randolph County Commission. Special recognition is extended to the Mountain State Forest Festival for their invaluable logistical support and concessions.
The September to Remember Music Festival underscores Davis & Elkins College's commitment to community service and engagement. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Elkins/Randolph County YMCA, furthering the college's dedication to enhancing the quality of life in our local community.
The festival also sets the stage for a significant milestone as Davis & Elkins College will celebrate its true 120th anniversary on Saturday. This milestone event will honor the college's rich history and enduring impact on the community.
Jah Works, a celebrated name in reggae music, will headline the festival with their authentic, rootsdriven sound. Based in Baltimore, Jah Works has been a mainstay in the reggae scene for over two decades, known for their dynamic performances and rich rhythms. This performance marks a nostalgic return for Jah Works, who previously performed at D&E between 2000 and 2010, including a memorable appearance at the 2002 Deju vu Music Festival with O.A.R.
Jah Works will be supported by Shane Meade & The Sound, who will bring their soul-infused folk rock to the stage. Hailing from Elkins, Shane Meade, a D&E alumnus, is celebrated for his heartfelt songwriting and compelling performances. Their latest album, Livin' In The Moment, has received acclaim for its unique acoustic and full-band compositions. Known for transforming any venue into an intimate and engaging experience, Shane Meade & The Sound are sure to captivate the audience.
Opening the festival will be Aubrey Rey, a talented singer/songwriter from Schwenksville, Pa. Known for her powerful vocals and emotive lyrics, Aubrey Rey gained national recognition with her appearance on American Idol. Her journey through Nashville's vibrant music scene has honed her craft, and her latest single, The Girl, along with its music video, highlights her exceptional talent.
