ELKINS — Vandalia Health’s Davis Medical Center hosted an open house for its staff members this week to get an exclusive look at the region’s latest in cardiac imaging technology.

The event took place in DMC’s Imaging Department and allowed team members from throughout the hospital a chance to see the new, state-of-the-art Cardiac Computed Tomography Angiography (CTA).

Those taking part were able to learn directly from the radiology staff and understand what kind of impact the advanced diagnostic tool will have on patient care in the community.

“Our new cardiac CT technology represents a major step forward in our ability to diagnose and

treat cardiovascular conditions with speed and precision,” said Joseph Dibacco, System

Director of Diagnostic Imaging for Davis Medical Center. “The open house allowed us to

showcase this powerful resource to our staff, who are on the front lines of patient care and can

now share with patients the incredible benefits this technology will bring.”

The DMC radiology team went over the diagnostic capabilities of Cardiac CTA with other hospital staffers. The advanced tool allows for highly detailed imaging of the coronary arteries, offering a non-invasive alternative to traditional cardiac catheterization and aiding in the early detection of heart disease.

Officials said the Cardiac CTA is an expansion service that was made possible because of Vandalia Health’s dedication to providing the best possible heart care in the region. Mon Health Heart & Vascular cardiologists in Elkins will work closely with the Davis Medical imaging team in the timely coordination of heart care for patients.

Coronary CTA is used in the diagnosis of blockages in the coronary arteries. It shows various 3D computed images that are used to diagnose cardiovascular disease, detect plaque buildup, and determine if there are blockages in the heart’s arteries.

In addition to now having CTA capability at DMC, a new Telemedicine Center is available at the Mon Health Heart & Vascular Clinic. The two new collaborative initiatives were announced in September during a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The new telemedicine center will allow patients to schedule appointments with specialty providers virtually. At these virtual appointments, patients can receive specialty care as they would in an in-person appointment without the need to travel long distances.
