Free Thanksgiving meals set across region Thursday

ELKINS -- Several groups in Randolph, Tucker, Barbour and Upshur counties are set to offer free Thanksgiving meals for their communities Thursday.

The Randolph County Coalition of Churches (RC3) will have a Thanksgiving Dinner on Thursday, Nov. 28 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event will be held at the First Baptist Church on 412 Randolph Ave. in Elkins. Also in Randolph County, the Summit Church on 245 Martin St. in Elkins will have its monthly Feed the City event on Thursday, with an annual Thanksgiving twist.

Beginning at 12 p.m. the church will be serving turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, pies and more all day until the food runs out. Attendees are welcome to eat-in or take-out and anyone is welcome to join.

In Tucker County, the Tucker County Senior Center will be holding a free Thanksgiving Dinner on Thursday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Located at 217 Senior Lane in Parsons, the event is eat-in; however, pick-up and delivery are also an option. Everyone is welcome.

The Belington Presbyterian Church on 208 N. Sturmer St. in Belington will be having their annual Thanksgiving Day Meal Program on Thursday.

Provided through generous donations from the community, food -- such as turkeys and pies -- will be delivered throughout the community, including to businesses operating on Thanksgiving, starting at 9 a.m. Anyone is welcome to come eat-in and carry-out at the church starting at 11 a.m.

In Upshur County, the Chapel Hill United Methodist Church will be serving Thanksgiving meals starting at 5 p.m. Thursday for take-out. Located on 88 S. Kanawha St. in Buckhannon, the church is also accepting free-will donations.
