Families helped by ‘Heart of Holidays’ effort
ELKINS — Vandalia Health’s Davis Health System and Mon Health System staff have supported more than 40 families of employees facing financial hardship through their “Heart of the Holidays” program.
The “Heart of the Holidays” program has assisted 48 families across Mon Health and Davis Health systems this year while Vandalia Health’s Charleston Area Medical Center (CAMC) helped 90 families in their system.
“As an organization, we believe in the power of compassion,” Nate James, System Director of Employee & Workforce Engagement for Mon Health System, said in a press release from Vandalia Health. “The ‘Heart of the Holidays’ program reflects our ongoing commitment to caring for our employees, especially during the holidays, a time that can be challenging for so many.”
The program, which was first introduced by CAMC in 2010, matches anonymously nominated employee families with sponsoring departments to provide clothing, toys and food for each member of the household, “bringing joy and relief during the holiday season,” according to the press release. Mon Health joined the Heart of the Holiday’s program in 2022.
To also help ring in the holiday season, Mon Health delivered popcorn buckets and meal vouchers to their EMS teams this season, according to their social media.
“Thank you for the care, time and compassion you give to our communities–it means more than words can express,” Mon Health said in a post about their EMS teams.
Davis Health Systems also showed appreciation to their employees on Dec. 12 with a “festive holiday” lunch at the in-building cafe, according to their social media.
“…a small token of appreciation for all the dedication and care they show every day,” Davis Health Systems said in a post. “Here’s to the spirit of giving, the joy of the season and the wonderful people who make our community thrive. Happy Holidays!”
Davis Health Systems also assisted in the Elkins “Jingle All the Way” Christmas Parade by handing out hot cocoa at the Elkins-Randolph County YMCA after the parade while kids visited Santa Claus.
