ELKINS -- Santa and Mrs. Claus are getting ready to "Jingle All the Way" through Elkins as the city's annual Christmas Parade is set for Friday evening.
The Elkins-Randolph County Chamber's annual "Jingle All the Way" Christmas Parade on Davis Avenue through Downtown Elkins will begin Friday at 6 p.m.
The local police and fire departments, Randolph County Sheriff's Office and the West Virginia Highlanders have all been invited to kick off the parade at 11th Street on Davis Avenue.
The "Randolph County Band" -- comprised of all band members from Elkins High School, Tygarts Valley High School and Elkins Middle School -- will also be a highlight of this year's event.
"Snikle" -- the official "Elfkins" elf -- will have a place of honor in the parade, along with additional elves from the Old Brick Playhouse.
As is tradition, Santa and Mrs. Claus will be the parade's final attraction, following representative from Davis & Elkins College and the Randolph County Regional Riding Club.
Santa and Mrs. Claus will disembark from their "sleigh" in front of Elkins. Afterward, the public is invited to join Santa, Mrs. Claus and Snikle for "Hot Chocolate in the Rotary Room of the YMCA." Inside, families can sip hot chocolate and, using their own cameras, take photos of children with the famous North Pole couple.
The Chamber will offer Cash Calendar tickets for sale, and the charitable Citizens Promoting Community group will be selling "Elfkins" ornaments and T-shirts. The Osiris Clowns of Elkins will be providing free stuffed animals to children on the first floor of the YMCA, as well.
If your business, organization, or club would like to participate in the parade, please call the Chamber by Thursday. Line up will begin at 5 p.m. Friday.
The Chamber has more exciting news to offer: On Monday, all businesses and organizations in Randolph County are invited to an historic event, "A Gift to the Randolph County Business Community." The event will run from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at Orchard Hall.
"The Chamber is poised to make an announcement about the future of the Chamber and its new philosophy of membership for all," a press release states. "This historic change, developed by the Chamber Board and partially funded by the Randolph County Commission, will create a new mindset for membership and partnership between the Chamber and the entire Elkins-Randolph County Business Community."
All businesses and organizations of Randolph County are invited. There is no fee to attend. Registration is appreciated by visiting erccc.com or contacting the Chamber.
For additional information about either event, contact Lisa Wood, Chamber Executive Director, at lisa.wood@erccc.com or 304-636-2717.
